Christopher Platz, age 51, of Lowell, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2026. He was born in Cadillac, MI to Jan and Alan Platz. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, and his father and mother-in-law, William and Judy Perrin.
He was known for his strong work ethic, his sense of humor, and his ability to make everyone around him feel valued and loved. Whether he was working long hours to provide for those he cared about, helping others through difficult times, or making people laugh with one of his trademark dad jokes, Chris lived a life centered on service to others.
Above all else, Chris was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Pam Platz; his children, Daniel (Jackie) Barrett II, Samantha (Kendall) Jackson, Nicole (David) Shores, Christopher (Tiffany Miller) Platz II, and Stephanie Platz; his grandchildren, Memphis, Savannah, Logan, Erika, Lilly, Amber, Gabby, Kayden, Miles, Matthew, and Zander; and his sister, Jenni.
Chris's greatest joy in recent years was being Grandpa to his 11 grandchildren. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. His grandchildren adored him, and he loved them greatly.
Those who knew Chris will remember him as the fun dad and grandpa, the dependable provider, the loyal friend, and the respected boss. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, offering a helping hand when it was needed, and bringing laughter into everyday moments. He was a devoted fan of the Detroit Lions; enjoyed collecting shoes, hats, and fun socks; and took great pride in transforming his yard throughout the year with decorations celebrating every season and holiday. His home reflected the joy he found in creating special memories for his family and making others smile.
Funeral services will be held 11a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Simple Traditions Funeral Home, 3131 Division Ave. S, Wyoming. Relatives and friends may visit the family on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Im so very sorry. Chris was an extremely sweet man. He loved his family beyond measure. My heart is breaking for my cousin Pam and their children and grandchildren. He was taken far too soon. Im praying for comfort for the family and friends. Rest in peace Chris.

To Chris’ family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.
I worked with Chris (we called him PZ) at Bagger Dave’s in Grand Rapids. We had a special “high 5” that we would do as we passed each other.
He always had a smile on his face and he always went above and beyond and made everyone feel important. He will be missed by so many and I feel truly blessed to have called him “friend.”
Sending you all prayers for peace and comfort!
See you again PZ!!
