Robert (Bob) Koopmans, age 65, of Wyoming passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 16, 2026. One of the greatest love stories of Robert’s life began at Godwin High School when he met his soul mate and high school sweetheart, Mary. Although life led them on separate paths for many years, fate brought them back together, and they spent the last 14 years building a life filled with love, companionship, and cherished memories. Their reunion was a beautiful testament to enduring love and the quiet truth that some connections are just meant to be. Robert proudly owned and operated the bookstore “Between the Covers”. Robert had a love of fishing, kayaking, and creating art. If you were his friend, you were extremely lucky to know someone so kind and generous. Robert loved to listen to any kind of music, but found joy specifically in reggae. He was a fierce cat lover who was tolerated by different cats throughout the years. He was a big fan of watching soccer, even if it was just a rerun.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Annamarie and Jan Koopmans; his brother-in-law, Jon Morley; and mother and father-in-law, Janet and Robert Heindrichs.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Grinwis; his twin sister, Arlette Mican; brothers, Johannis (Mary) Koopmans, Albert (Janice) Koopmans; sister, Marianne Morley; his sister in-law, Teri Heindrichs and (Randy); and Mary’s extended family, his cats, and many nieces and nephews.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Focus on Ferals.
.
Rest easy Robert…and to your family, my deepest condolences… I’m sorry you’re going thru this…prayers for comfort and peace during such a difficult time.
