Howard Michael Cole, age 77, of Grand Rapids went to be with Sweet Jesus on Friday, August 28, 2026. Howard was passionate about his faith and his relationship with God. Howard had a vast pocket knife collection he took pride in, even attending knife sharpening courses. He used those skills to craft beautiful wooden chests. His favorite outdoor activities included fishing and biking. Howard also had an interest in boxing, both participating and watching matches.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Howard and Vera; his brother, Danny; and his wife, Laurane.
He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters, Dave, Sharon, Kevin, and Debbie; his children, Tammy and Ron, Eddie and Amy, Scott and Tonia, Matthew and Tara, Lisa and Jacob, and Jennifer; 15 grandkids and 21 great-grandkids.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, September 4 at Simple Traditions Funeral Home, 3131 S. Division Ave., Wyoming. Burial Pine Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 10-11am at Simple Traditions Funeral Home, 3131 S. Division Ave., Wyoming. He welcomed me warmly into the Cole family as soon as we knew that my daughter Amy and his so Ed were “a thing”. Rest in peace my friend, your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ was so inspiring to experience.
