In Loving Memory of Gloria Carol (Linscott) Vaughan
Gloria Carol (Linscott) Vaughan, aged 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31. A beacon of warmth and knowledge, Gloria dedicated her life to education and the arts, touching the hearts of many.
She is survived by her loving brother, James Allen Linscott IV (Bonnie) from Byron Center, MI, and her cherished sister, Yvonne Jean (Linscott) Bartel (Gary) from Tucson, AZ. Gloria also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews who will forever carry her memory.
For 12 years, Gloria inspired young minds as an English teacher at Jackson Park Junior High, and she continued her educational journey for 20 years at Wyoming Community Education, where she taught English, word processing, English as a second language, and led a Job Club. Her passion for learning extended beyond the classroom; after retirement, she dedicated 13 years to the Grand Rapids Symphony, sharing her love for music and community.
Gloria faced her final moments with no regrets, looking forward to reuniting with her beloved husband, “Dicky,” with whom she shared 44 wonderful years of marriage.
A “Gala for Gloria” will be held on Saturday, August 15, at the Marriott, 11 Monroe Avenue in the Grand River Room. Parking is available at Louis Campau Parking Ramp, 43 Monroe Avenue. The celebration begins at 10 AM with cookies and conversation, followed by a service at 11 AM. A light luncheon will conclude the gala, reflecting the joy and love Gloria brought into our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Grand Rapids Symphony, Grand Rapids Civic Theater, or the Humane Society, honoring Gloria’s lifelong commitment to education, the arts, and compassion for all living beings.
May her spirit continue to inspire and uplift those she touched throughout her remarkable life.
