Donald Lee Kommer, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on April 8, 2026, at the age of 66.
Don was a man of strength with a warm and steady spirit. He faced life, and especially his 4½-year battle with cancer, with remarkable courage and grace, never losing his trust in God. His resilience was an inspiration to all who walked alongside him. Don was also a trusted friend and mentor to many. He was always willing to offer guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear.
He dedicated 42 years of his life to the Tool and Die industry, taking pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way.
Outside of work, Don found great joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. He loved spending time at the cottage surrounded by family and friends. He enjoyed time on the pontoon boat, working on projects with his tractor, 4-wheeling, and embracing the adventures of retirement through travel. Above all, he especially cherished time with his grandchildren who brought him immense pride and happiness.
Don was the beloved husband of 44 years to Linda (Haan) and a proud father to Stacy (Robert) Lott and Christopher (Morgan) Kommer. He cherished his role as grandfather to Gage, Presley, Monroe, McCoy and Callaway, holding each of them close to his heart. He was also a loving and devoted son to his father, Ron, maintaining a caring relationship throughout his life.
He is survived by his siblings, John Kommer, Kathy (Paul) Hiestand, Steve (Michelle) Anderson, Lisa Sladek, Sarah (John) Smith, Dirk (Myra) Haan and John (LuAnn) Haan. As well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret (Sutter) his stepmother Mary (DeYoung), his stepbrother John Thomas Anderson, and his parent in-laws, Peter and Jean Haan.
Don’s life was marked by love — love for his family, his friends, and his Lord. His legacy is one of faith, perseverance, and a life well lived.
While our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the promise that Don is now at peace, whole, and in the presence of Jesus.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
