Cory Nelson, 90, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
She was born in Nampicuan Nueva Ecija, Philippines and moved to America in the 1980s. She built a beautiful life centered around her family and the people she loved. She enjoyed playing Mahjong, dancing, and attending parties when she was younger. She loved traveling, listening to all kinds of music, gardening, and watching the NBA on television. Cory also enjoyed the simple pleasures of going grocery shopping and visiting places like Panera and Macy’s. She was known for being exceptionally clean and tidy, often whistling while she worked. A thoughtful, caring, and devoted woman, she was always helping others and generously giving to those in need back home. She was a fighter, a protector, and someone who could always be counted on to call and check in on the people she loved. Above all, she was devoted to her family, and her love, strength, generosity, and caring spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Shella and Marbin Ramos, Apollo Aquino Curamen, Emery Arman Curamen; grandchildren: Krystal Mae and Omar Khan, Samantha Jane Lopez, Shyanne Lochelle Flores, Cameron Curato Curamen, Camille Raeann Curamen, Christian Anthony Curamen, Christopher Jaden Curamen; great-grandchild: Emila Jane Khan; ex-husband: Edgardo P. Curamen and the rest of the Curamen families, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Felicidad Aquino; siblings: Clarita Aquino Catriz, Procopio Aquino, and Trining Aquino Mangosing.
According to the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1120 4 Mile Road NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525.
