Diane Smith, age 79, of Dorr, went to be with Jesus and her mom and brother on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. She had an unwavering faith and was a powerful prayer warrior for others. She battled a courageous fight with esophageal cancer while continuing a strong work ethic without feeling sorry for herself, but instead worrying about others first. She claimed she “wasn’t ready or done yet.” She was fun loving, easy going, and had a great sense of humor with a beautiful smile. She also enjoyed being outdoors, going for walks, listening to birds sing, and sitting outside in the yard with Dawn and Carmel, enjoying the beauty of God’s creation. She especially enjoyed butterflies and sunsets. When inside, she enjoyed cards, scrabble, and dice games or movies and spending time with others.
Diane will be lovingly remembered by so many, especially her daughter, Dawn; grandpuppy, Carmel; sister, Sandra (Greg) Smith; sister-in-law, Robin Scheib; and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Duane and Laurene Scheib; brother, Gary Scheib.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please consider the needs of her family. She made the world a better place and her family will miss the wonderful bond they had with her. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff of Faith Hospice-Trillium Woods for their loving compassionate care of Diane in her last days.
