Cindy Broadhurst

Cindy Broadhurst, age 79, of Grand Rapids, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.  She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Barb Broadhurst and sisters, Barb Sulfaro, and Judy Marlow.  She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Tracy (Duncan) Hood; dog (Aki Marie); sister Peggy (David) Lazar; family members and friends.  After graduating from Kendall School of Design, she worked forty years with Spartan Stores, designing work for some of their commercial clients.  In the evenings Cindy, always smiling, took care of elderly clients so they could remain in their homes.  Her hobbies included koi fish, wildlife pet rescue and travel.  The koi pond was everything to her and she enjoyed it when they would eat out of her hand.  Deer and turkey would stop by along with other woodland creatures.  Upon retiring Cindy loved to travel with weTravel for over 10 years.  Costa Rica was her favorite trip.  She also enjoyed volunteering at the Northview Senior Center while making new friends.  A very special thank you to Christine Friedt, Bonnie Hagan, Dale and Kim Monje, and Toni Reyburn for all their loving care and help.  Many other special family and friends kept in touch and helped however they could.  Memorial services will be held this spring around a koi pond.  Cremation has taken place.  In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to The Humane Society of West Michigan or the Kent County Animal Shelter.
